Did you know that this year marked the 100th anniversary of the German vampire classic Nosferatu? Well, I did — and I decided to mark the occasion with an 11-part, 22,000-word essay series on German vampire literature between 1748 and 1922.
The final post in the series, covering Gustav Meyrink’s “The Land of the Time-Leeches”, is now live at WWAC. Previous posts in the series covered the work of Heinrich August Ossenfelder, Gottfried August Bürger, Goethe, Hoffman, Ernst Raupach, multiple German dramatists, Karl von Wachsmann, Heinrich Heine, George Sylvester Viereck and Franz Hartmann.
